You can now limit the number of podcasts stored on your iPhone or iPad. This is possible thanks to the update of the iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5, which allow the user to set an automatic limit for a certain number of episodes of a podcast show.
The practice of downloading podcasts on iPhone to iPad is interesting because it allows listening to episodes and a program while traveling or during a trip where there is not a good level of signal to get the internet mobile. However, when you subscribe to podcast shows, your iPhone tends to fill up quickly if you don’t have time to listen to every episode that comes out. This is why the function to limit the number of stored podcasts was created.
Limit the number of podcasts on iPhone and iPad: why and how the feature works
As it becomes more and more difficult to manage files stored on iPhone, especially with photos, videos and music from streaming services, the available space becomes smaller and smaller over time, the Apple decided to set up a tool that could help podcast fans. Starting with iOS 15.5, the company has made available the ability to limit the number of automatic downloads in the official Podcasts app based on user-defined criteria.
With the new feature, it is now possible to download and keep only the most recent episode of each of the shows you subscribe to. At the same time, you can also choose to leave the last 2, 3, 5 or 10 episodes of a show. There is also the option to retain downloads of today’s releases or a certain number of days, which can include for a maximum of 30 days.
