Oscars 2022 | Eligible for Animation, Documentary and International

Discover the films eligible for Best International Film, Best Animated Film and Best Documentary at the Oscars 2022.

THE Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences finally revealed the lists of eligible films for the categories of Best International Film, Best Animated Film and Best Documentary for the 2022 Oscars. The lists are made up of iconic titles and everything is still open, in what promises to be a very tight edition.

Among the films eligible for Academy Award for Best International Film we find “A Metamorfose dos Pássaros”, by Catarina Vasconcelos and representing Portugal in this race. In addition, we have “A Mão de Deus”, one of the most talked about films in recent months that represents Italy or “A Hero”, the new film by Asghar Fahardi, a real favorite in this category who has already won the award twice. In animation there are 26 films and five of them will be nominated for the Oscars.

Hollywood Academy members will now have to meet a minimum viewing requirement in order to vote for the 94th Academy Awards. Films submitted for animation are also eligible in other categories, including Best Picture and even Best Documentary, where “Flee” features as one of the highlights. The titles are presented in English, as officially announced by the Academy.

Films eligible for the 2022 Oscar for best international film

Like last year, this year we have the same record number of countries that applied for the Best International Film category: 93. As previously confirmed in the United States, Somalia is the only country participating for the first time in the oscar race.

The list of 15 films will be announced on December 21 and MHD will also share it with you.
