The Sandman and 7 other most anticipated series of 2022

After a long pause in recording and new audiovisual productions due to the pandemic, the industry has come back strong this year. So far, some new titles have been released which caught the public’s attention, such as Break, moon knight and we are all dead.

However, 2022 still promises releases eagerly awaited by the public, in particular series with astronomical, nostalgic budgets or adaptations of stories already known in the world of comics and games.

Obi Wan Kenobi

On the occasion of Ewan McGregor’s return to the world of star warsthe plot of the series takes place ten years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sithreleased in 2005. In the franchise, the Jedi Master trains Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) and, years later, guides protagonist Luke Skywalker in his knowledge of the Force.

With Tatiana Maslany and Mark Ruffalo, the new Marvel Series on Disney+ follows Bruce Benner helping his cousin, Jennifer Walters, when she needs an emergency blood transfusion and receives the hero’s powers.

Dragon House

The spin-off of The iron Throne It lives up to the name of the original series and is one of HBO’s most expensive productions to date, with a budget of $20 million per episode.

The story takes place 300 years before the events seen in The iron Throne and features the civil war between House Targaryen. “A period of power struggles between Rhaenyra and her half-brother Aegon, when both believed they had a right to the Iron Throne.”

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

The spin-off of the Lord of the Rings is the most expensive series ever produced in all of television history, with a total budget of $500 million for season 1 alone.

“The epic drama set thousands of years before The Fellowship of the Ring, focuses on a moment in history when great powers were forged, kingdoms rose and fell, while heroes were tested and had their hopes nearly dashed by the great villain of the Lord of the Rings universe. The series begins at a time of peace, as the cast of characters new and old must contend with a resurgence of evil from the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains.”

The sand man

The adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s work was eagerly awaited by fans of the author. The first season of the series is expected to adapt the first two story arcs: Preludes and Nocturnes and The doll house.

The story follows morpheathe Master of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), reclaiming the Dream and its tools after being imprisoned for nearly a century, when he was mistaken for his sister Death in a modern wizarding ritual.

The new series from the creators of dark promises to please fans of German production. The plot will follow a group of different nationalities who leave from London to New York on a boat. On the high seas, they “encounter a second ship adrift and are faced with a terrible enigma”.

This one is for the nostalgic! Based on the 1988 film of the same name, the series promises new medieval realms and lots of magic. It’s worth mentioning that Warwick Davis is set to reprise his original role as wizard Willow Ufgood. In the plot, the character will have to save his kidnapped twin brother.

The last of us

Extremely acclaimed by the public and critics, the game The last of us will win an adaptation starring Pedro Pascal (Joel) and Bella Ramsey (Elle) on HBO Max.

  • Premiere: between the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023.
