The screenwriter responds to criticism that Wanda would become a villain

However Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Being a massive box office success worldwide, the film arrived as a watershed moment within the Marvel fandom as a whole.

One of the film’s most criticized factors is the script. A plot that, for many, is too rushed and does not allow enough development time to make things happen in a more satisfying way or with more attention to the dialogues, focusing on action scenes that do not s never stop.

Another factor that has been heavily criticized is the drastic change in Wanda, the scarlet witch, who happened to be a super villain in the film. Of those bad guys who kill and don’t care about anything but their personal goal.

For those who watched Wanda Vision on Disney+, the shift from a grieving but accepting heroine to the Scarlet Witch, willing to kill others for alternate versions of her own children, may be the film’s biggest shock.

And in an interview with The Playlist, the screenwriter of Doctor Strange 2, Michael Waldronresponded to fan complaints about this drastic character change from the previous production:

“I think I would say to WandaVision fans, like, I get it. Watching a character that you like do bad things sucks. never would have done it if it hadn’t felt like the next step in his character journey.”

The screenwriter continued to give his opinion and share his interpretation of the series:

“For me, my take on the story of ‘WandaVision’ was that Wanda is dealing with her pain on this show, but I don’t think she’s necessarily conquering. This is a show about her living in denial in some degree and she overcomes her denial, but I don’t think she properly considers her anger at what she’s been through, and that anger is what she takes with her as she leaves. knowing that she’s the Scarlet Witch and with the Darkhold, that evil. And I think it’s that anger that the Darkhold attacks and drives her on what is, for Wanda and me, a noble and very justifiable journey. She just wants her kids.
