Why is Loki the most-watched Marvel series on Disney+?

According to Kevin Feige, the production starring Tom Hiddleston was more successful than WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Even though he came out months after WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki is the marvel series the most successful on Disney+. Well, according to the company’s own boss, Kevin Feige, the story of the God of Mischief (Tom Hiddleston) has been the most streamed among superhero storylines. But do you know why this production was so successful with fans of Captain America and Iron Man?

Loki (Tom Hiddleston) had a complicated journey in MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). The brother of ThorChris Hemsworth made his villainy clear in the first film from 2011. And, in Avengers (2012)the god of mischief has become the main antagonist of the heroes…until the arrival of Thanos (Josh Brolin).

But ever since the first Earth’s Mightiest Heroes movie, Loki has been on a journey of redemption. During Thor: The Dark World (2013), Hiddleston’s character gave the first hint of regret. He even helped his brother… Before faking his death, sending his father to an asylum on Earth and taking over Asgard.

Well, the path from the God of Mischief to the Loki series was really complicated. Yet this trajectory is one of the reasons for the success of the story in the Disney+. Following Hiddleston for a decade in the MCU, fans have seen a distinct character evolution that has generated empathy for the son of Odin (Anthony Hopkins).

And that feeling doesn’t stop there! In the first moments of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Thanos (Brolin) killed Loki with extreme ease. But then how does Hiddleston have his own series on Disney+? The answer is time travel.

Like that Back to the Future (1985), Marvel has decided to bet on a trip to the past. By searching all the Infinity Stones in the past, the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes makes a mistake.

In Avengers: Endgame (2019), Captain America (Chris Evans), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) delivered the Tesseract into the hands of the God of Mischief. But it wasn’t just any Loki.

The version of Loki who took the Space Stone is from 2012. The villain had just lost the fight against the Avengers when an opportunity presented itself before his feet. However, while fleeing Earth with the special artifact, the character violated the timeline and was arrested by the ATV (Time Variation Authority).

THE Disney+ original series shows the character’s story from that point on. So why were Marvel fans so engaged with Loki? Right from the start, the plot pointed to the existence of a variant of the God of Mischief. And audiences had to wait a few episodes to find out the true identity of this alternate version of Thor’s brother.

Well, the wait was worth it. Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) has already become the darling of the public… until the last chapter of the first season. Like Loki, the character manages to screw everything up with extreme ease and speed.

Finally, the presentation of the new Goddess of Mischief made the existence of alternate realities evident. The multiverse has been the centerpiece of marvel phase 4. But, before being explored in Spider-Man: No Coming Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessthe concept of parallel dimensions was introduced in Loki.

In addition to multiverse, the Disney+ original series also introduced a new side to Loki. During the plot, the God of Mischief admitted to being bisexual. While he’s not the first LGBTQIA+ character in the superhero universe, the reveal was significant in a number of ways. One of them is Thor’s brother’s own story in the comics.

In the comics, the anti-hero does not hide his gender fluidity. The Disney+ series, in addition to adapting Marvel comics with excellence, helps bring representation to the Avengers Cinematic Universe.

With no confirmed premiere date, the second season of Loki will continue the story of the God of Mischief on an ATV commanded by Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors). Watch the series’ first year trailer:
